Sometime between April 26 and May 4 we made a stop for several days at a casino campground in Sky City, New Mexico. We took a trip to Acoma Pueblo. It is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in North America. Acoma Pueblo is built atop a sheer-walled, 367-foot sandstone bluff in a valley studded with sacred, towering monoliths. Since 1150 A.D., Acoma Pueblo has earned the reputation as the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America. The mesa-top settlement is known worldwide for its unique art and rich culture. It was a really interesting and beautiful place where we were able to buy some authentic native American pottery made from clay dug out of the surrounding area.
